Strengthening Families Program
November 12 @ 12:00 am
FreeThe Strengthening Families Program (SFP) is an evidence-based family skills training program for children and their families. It is designed to increase resilience and reduce risk factors for behavioral, emotional, academic, and social problems. SFP builds on protective factors by improving family relationships, parenting skills, and enhancing youth’s social and life skills. The program has been successfully implemented in schools, drug treatment centers, family and youth service agencies, community mental health centers, churches, and drug courts.
The SFP Teaches Three Life-Skills Courses:
• Parenting Skills: Parents will learn to increase positive time with children, manage stress, improve communication, and use consistent, effective discipline.
• Children’s Life Skills: Children learn listening skills, peer resistance, awareness of substance use dangers, anger management, and problem-solving techniques.
• Family Life Skills: Parents and children will practice spending quality time together, effective problem-solving, and open communication.
